Ade Lehtse
History and social studies teacher
ade.lehtse@tulevikukool.edu.ee
I graduated from the design department of the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA), where I also studied to become an art and art history teacher. I have many years of experience as a museum educator at Tallinn City Museum, where I developed and ran history programmes for children and young people and organised city day camps.
This way I have got to know every school in Tallinn, and many of the history-loving children from those early years have grown up to work in museums themselves.
When teaching history, I think it is important to spark interest in past events and make lessons an experience. Alongside creativity, I also value staying within the framework of the curriculum.

Elle Lepik Kannike
Art teacher
elle.lepik@tulevikukool.edu.ee
After earning a bachelor’s degree in art education, I have taught art under both the Estonian national curriculum and the IB programme. As a teacher, I feel responsible for raising the bold doers and decision-makers of the future. Without stepping outside the box there is no innovation, and society’s way of thinking does not change. I encourage students to experiment as they bring their ideas to life – even an unsuccessful end result can be an important lesson. I also see teamwork and consideration for others as a key future skill – it is not always easy, and we polish it little by little in art lessons. Besides teaching, I am a mosaic and glass artist.

Harry Sepp
Mathematics teacher
harry.sepp@tulevikukool.edu.ee
Graduated from the University of Tartu as a mathematician and mathematics teacher.
Mathematics is beautiful and simple.
Problem: what is 1×3?
Let’s reason: if I have 1 (one) phone and I look at it 3 (three) times during a lesson, I still have 1 (one) phone, even though I have looked at it 3 (three) times.
So: 1×3=?
Answer: 3, of course.

Kadri Pettai
Social pedagogue, SEN coordinator
kadri.pettai@tulevikukool.edu.ee
I value teamwork and solution-focused dialogue. There is a solution to every situation – we just need to find it together. I am here to listen to children, colleagues and parents, whether the matter is big or small or someone simply needs to share their thoughts. At the heart of it all is the student: their well-being, sense of safety and needs, their strengths and growth – and, of course, the joy of school.

Hanna-Liisa Kendra
Special education teacher
hanna.lond@tulevikukool.edu.ee
I am a mother, a teacher, a musician, an artist – and above all, I want to be a good person.
I hold a master’s degree in special education and counselling from Tallinn University. I taught at Kadriorg German Gymnasium for 5 years and am now in my second year at Keila School and Loova Tuleviku Kool. This journey has deepened my understanding of the different needs of students and their families. Over seven years I have had the chance to grow in large schools in Harju County, guiding students from Grade 1 to Grade 9, including those with special educational needs. Beyond traditional teaching, I have also ventured into media education, trying to create motivating and exciting lessons. Besides my family and school family, my heart also has room for singing and making art. I believe that through hands-on and mental activity we can best ease our big emotions, such as joys and fears. I am very grateful for the chance to help young people grow and develop.

Margit Toomlaid
Class teacher
margit.toomlaid@tulevikukool.edu.ee
I am one of those lucky people whose work is their hobby and whose hobby is their work – and have been for almost 35 years. I have taught at every level of education, from kindergarten to upper secondary school. I love learning and teaching. I enjoy coming up with teaching tricks and get excited when I see them work. I am convinced that we achieve the best results when we build on each person’s strengths and talents.
I am carried through life by four L’s: Loovus–Loodus–Lugemine–Liikumine (creativity, nature, reading, movement).
I live in today, act for tomorrow and think in terms of the day after.

Olena Salum
Russian teacher

Raili Mathiesen
Class teacher
raili.mathiesen@tulevikukool.edu.ee
I have been a primary school teacher for 9 years and a mother for half my life, and I have 3 wonderful children.
To me, the world is a lovely and interesting place to explore and discover. I believe a broad outlook matters. Learning at school should above all be varied, exciting and playful, with care and empathy as the background music. A quote by P. Volkonsky immediately starts ringing in my head: “The world around us changes when we touch it, and we ourselves change when the world touches us.”
I love travelling, nature, other languages and cultures. Interior design, baking, handicrafts, gardening and floristry are the dessert of my free moments.
Hipp Kalkun
Music teacher
hipp.kalkun@tulevikukool.edu.ee
I create a positive and inclusive learning environment for children. I try to give them a sense of success through music. I use music and songs to reinforce vocabulary learned in subject and group lessons. I also prepare musical performances for school events. I graduated from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in flute. I have worked as a flute teacher at music schools and as a music teacher in kindergartens and schools.
Pille Tamm
Speech therapist
pille.tamm@tulevikukool.edu.ee
I graduated from the special education department of the University of Tartu as a special education teacher and speech therapist in 1993. I have a great thirst for knowledge, which is why I have taken part in numerous professional development courses over the years. I have varied work experience in both education and healthcare. What I enjoy most about my work is communicating with all kinds of people. I want to be useful in helping people of different ages overcome or ease speech and/or general developmental difficulties. At school, I favour combining interactive and traditional learning. In life, I follow a Buddhist way of thinking: once you have found the right direction, all that remains is to keep moving in it.
Merje Männik
English teacher
merje.mannik@tulevikukool.edu.ee
I graduated from the University of Tartu in English language and literature as a philologist-translator and have obtained a teaching qualification.
I have worked in the public sector and as a translator and trainer, and for a few years I studied French as a hobby.
I believe it is important to take each student’s individual abilities into account and create a safe learning environment for learning and boldly exploring the world. This way, students can build language skills through real, everyday activities, using modern technology that makes learning engaging and effective.
For me, it is important to create, together with the students, an inspiring learning environment that is open to new ideas.
I am interested in history, literature, art, theatre, cinema, music, architecture, travelling and gardening.

Children have always inspired me. They have such spontaneous joy of life, delight in simple things, a carefree spirit and, of course, hope for a better future. I would love to be one of them again. Being a teacher gives me the chance to enter a child’s world, but also to share what I have experienced and learned. Although I hold a master’s degree in educational sciences, children have a great deal to give and teach me. And so we are all on a shared learning journey, inspiring and supporting one another.
Hedda Maurer
Estonian teacher
hedda.maurer@tulevikukool.edu.ee
I studied Hungarian in Tartu, literary translation in Budapest, and teaching Estonian language and literature in Tallinn. I have often said that as a teacher I get to talk with interesting people about things that interest me – a luxury you don’t find in every job. They also say teaching is one of the most effective ways to learn – I can’t wait to see what my students will teach me. And so we are all on a shared learning journey, inspiring and supporting one another.

Andrea Miku
Estonian language and literature and personal, social and health education teacher
andrea.miku@tulevikukool.edu.ee

I have also worked in many fields: in schools, at an art museum and at the Venice Architecture Biennale, at the NO99 theatre and in cafés, and in architecture firms. I broadened my horizons on exchange studies in Iceland and the Netherlands. As a teacher I am purposeful, conscientious, eager to learn, kind and open. I am interested in fiction and non-fiction, the arts, theatre, cinema, music, architecture, travelling, yoga, psychology and pedagogy. I also value observing nature, meditation and boredom, to make room for creativity.
Maarja Sarv
Class teacher, learning support and preschool teacher
maarja.sarv@tulevikukool.edu.ee
I follow the principles of holistic learning. To me, every child is valuable, because each of us carries our own values and talents. I weave activities of different kinds into learning so that the experience broadens horizons and every student can feel a sense of success along the way. In the learning process, I value inner joy and motivation, supported by playfulness, consideration for one another and cooperation. I am also involved in music, dance, handicrafts, folk culture, publishing, text editing, yoga, therapies and massage. In the world of pedagogy, my favourite field is teaching children with special needs.
